DESCRIPTION:
Participants will:
Explore best practices for serving as a substitute teacher.
Become familiar with Ken-Ton District organization and important documents.
Examine the professional roles and responsibilities of substitute teachers.
Improve preparedness and communication among building staff and students.
Participants will engage in this workshop using the online learning platform Schoology.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Participants will be able to learn effective strategies, identify and use basic strategies for establishing a climate of learning, leading instruction & managing behavior. Best practices regarding professional behavior & communication strategies will be addressed.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL POTENTIAL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY HUMAN RESOURCES. ALL KEN-TON SUBS WILL NOT PAY A FEE FOR THE WORKSHOP.
PARTIAL CREDIT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR THIS WORKSHOP.

Hello! My name is Elaine Ablove and I am the Director of Staff Development at Kenmore Town of Tonawanda UFSD. I love my current job because I am perpetually immersed in learning new technologies and strategies for improving instructional delivery and student learning. I previously taught high school, third and sixth grades and served as a District mentor to new hires.
